((Thanks Sukie))

He'd managed to do a fairly adequate job of evading her, to which she gave him a silent tip of the hat, but no compliments came to her lips.  In fact, she made no motion at all.  She reared up, lifting her head out of the way of his bite, and then swung her forelegs down at him.  From all angles it would look like she intended to hit him along the neck and chest. As she did so she took a step forward with her hind legs, bringing her within range to wrap her forelegs around his neck halfway between his head and his chest.  If she could manage this, she would push off with her back legs, using momentum, weight and leverage to shove him sideways into the ground.  If she managed to catch hold of him she suspected he would attempt to pull out of her grip, so she would tighten her legs together and go for a controlling bite behind his head in a combination attack that she hoped would leave him sprawled underneath her.

If she missed her grab, despite the high success rate her proximity and his forward motion allowed, She would not allow him to completely escape her.  She would pursue, snapping at his back and/or shoulders in attempts to grab a high point on him.  If she could do that, she could use his center of gravity against him, unbalance him and bring him down.  Her goal now was to get him off his feet and underneath her.  If she could assert her dominance, she hoped she could convince him that he was not a match for her.  She didn't need to hurt him, she just needed him to give up.

Assuming her previous attacks failed she would probably have to chase him.  His strategy before had been to run away whenever she began her assaults, so it stood to reason he'd do so now.  If that were the case she would fake an attempt to charge at his shoulder, at the last minute she would plant her feet and swing sideways to deliver a kick to his ribs.  With a running start, her momentum would cause a fairly powerful strike, and while it wouldn't be enough to break one of the thin bones, it would certainly cause some bruising and wind him slightly.  If she could do that, he wouldn't have time to retreat before she could attack again.

But still he wouldn't give up. No matter what the instance, Arrow's childish demeanor was offset only by his doggedly irritating determination, one of which the boy had scarcely been aware of up until that point. He fought and he fought hard, albeit a mix of confusion and regret as they did so. He had a feeling that he'd be apologizing no matter what end their means concluded with, no matter the extent of what blows one suffered.

Again his jaws had landed on nothing but air, a failure of which sunk his heart even deeper along his ribcage.  Was this all his inexperience amounted to - a couple scrapes and mouthfuls of oxygen? While he couldn't give up, Arrow certainly felt like he wanted to. A bruised ego probably would have felt better if the female had actually congratulated him on his dodging, although the majority of which had been  coincedental at best. Only his instincts could take credit for that one, even if words would've helped.

This time, she wouldn't have to chase him or go for an alternate means of attack to assert her dominance. Arrow allowed - or rather, had little choice - for her legs to wrap around neck, but wouldn't allow to be thrown to the side. His lower body sat as her jaws came to rest along his thick scruff. He could feel the pressure of being pushed down so his front legs splayed out at first, attempting to center himself. In retrospect she wasn't that much heavier, but she did have the higher ground, and for this reason he had no choice but to push back against her teeth. He hoped with the thick fur there, she wouldn't be able to (or want to) pierce through anything important.

Meanwhile, Arrow's mouth stretched out to bite - yes, actually bite - anything he possibly could. Chest, inside of leg, ribcage, anything close. Whether he drew blood or not wasn't important because he wanted to make it uncomfortable enough for her to lose the enthusiasm to hold him there, especially since he wanted to avoid being completely pinned. Other than that, until she moved in some way, he wasn't going to do much else.

She may not weigh much more than him, but as she stood up and leaned forward, she pressed her body weight on her chest, forcing his head down as best as his splayed legs would allow.  Shifting her grip without letting go of him, Merc tried move her bite up his neck towards his head.  It was as though she was nibbling up his neck, not really inflicting more than a prick of pain before shifting her jaws again.  She looked like a dog with their favorite rope toy, shifting to get a better grip, but clamping down so the rope couldn't be pulled away.  Needless to say, the process would still inflict pain, while not really being too damaging.

His teeth snapped along her shoulder, but it caused more of a scrape than an actual bite. She was just lucky that the angle made it impossible to get a good grab on her.  While his teeth still pinched slightly when he snapped at her, she was doing her absolute best to ignore it.  It wasn't causing her to bleed out, and the likelihood of him doing damage with that was almost zero, so she just took it the same way she would a flea.  Something to be scratched later.

As she nipped at him, shoving with her front have, she swung her bottom half closer to his body. her forelegs still locked around his chest and neck, she managed to get her shoulder away from those itchy teeth.  She lifted one of her hind legs, doing what she could to get it up and over his back so that she would literally be straddling her weight entirely over him, but using his own bulk to keep him from thrashing to throw her.  If it worked, she would just using one leg for balance, and had her entire weight on his neck where it connected to his shoulders.  Basically she was sitting on him.  Ride 'em cowgirl.

Well, this was... Interesting, to say the least.

Arrow had become used to missing by this point, although the scrape did manage to successfully encourage the youth that he wasn't entirely inept. The purchase was the only thing keeping him from giving up completely, although he had come so far at this point that failure wasn't an option. Not this late in the game. But now it appeared that he was stuck between a rock and a hard place - or rather, the ground and her body. Not the best situation to be stuck in, but he had little choice but to make due.

He felt her shift in hold, but Arrow did nothing to remedy that. To slip out of her grip meant probably just getting chased and she wasn't about to display his tail and give her, as a result, a wide-open target to get back at him from an earlier bite. His body moved on its own then to combat it, head lowered as back end rose up all of a sudden from previously sitting position. In times of great adversity it would have appeared even the greatest strengths could be summoned, although by no means herculean in its own right.  With any luck, she'd have to stretch to make up for the distance.

He didn't intend to keep her there for very long either, seeking to throw her lone leg off balance as he attempted to veer in the direction that it held strong. Maybe he wouldn't be able to get enough momentum to succeed in that though, which in that case he'd simply crash onto the ground. Pain was meaningless at this point. He didn't enjoy having to whimper and cry as he went in all-out panic mode, long limbs flailed and crashed up against anything in its path. No matter what the case his teeth were bared and snapped as head turned from side to side, not seeking to land anything as he wanted to simply push her off. Scare her with all the noise he made, perhaps.

If one thing was for certain though, she was close enough to his body to feel that his strength hadn't waned.

With his upward movement in an attempt to stand Merc's stabilizing leg was lifted off the ground, so now she was literally sitting on him.  As he thrashed from side to side, she kept her front legs and mouth locked, Which helped her to be held in place.  Her back legs now straddled his shoulders, and while he managed to lift her, his momentum with their combined body weight would be... unimpressive.  Still, riding him like a bucking bronco, Merc held on.  The clearing they were fighting in offered little in terms of obstacles for him to run into, so unless he decided to take her on a merry jaunt through the trees, he wasn't going to dislodge her that way.  Aside from the unpleasant jerking as he thrashed underneath her like a caught fish, Merc clearly was on top of the situation.

She growled, which was more felt than heard since her mouth was clamped firmly on his neck.  She began to thrash as well, yanking against his motion.  If he threw his head left, she yanked right, if he tossed it right, she tugged left.  As much as she didn't want to hurt him, she wasn't going to lose.  So if she had to, she'd leave scars, and they would be a lesson.  Because that was something she had learned.  Every fight was a lesson, whether you showed physical proof or not.  At this point, it was all about how Arrow would react.  If he stopped thrashing she would stop her own jerking motions and go back to focusing on how to get him to submit.  But if he continued, she had all one hundred and thirty pounds of bulk in addition to his own weight working against him.  He could continue to buck and bolt like a rodeo pony, but she was going to break this stallion one way or another.  Yeehaw!

((Okay, I am laughing my ASS off right now))
