flower adventure [skylar]
« on: June 15, 2017, 12:05:06 AM »
Century dreamed fitfully, his small body twitching and jerking as faceless nightmares plagued him in his sleep. He burrowed closer to his sleeping siblings, nestling into their warmth and taking comfort in their closeness, finally settling down.

No sooner had he done so than the sun peeked in on them. Century wrinkled his brow as the sun shone in on his face, turning to tuck it away from the light but unable to do so as it seemingly followed him. A single ruby eye cracked open in disdain when the sun failed to sink below the horizon once again, squinting out at the orange hued sky as if it had personally offended him. And, well. It sort of had. Sleep was awesome. He couldn't sleep with all that light!

Well, he was awake now. A full-body yawn took him over, his small body stretching as tiny fangs glinted in the light. He sat up and looked around; all his siblings were still asleep, and so was mama. He frowned a little. He was awake, it was time to play! He pouted something fierce at his family for a really long time, or at least, long in puppy time, which was really only the few minutes until his attention was drawn by something swaying outside. A pretty blue flower. He yipped in excitement, awake and on his paws in an instant.

"Sky," He yipped, nuzzling into his brother's fur in an attempt to wake him, "Bub!" He tried again, more excited this time as a plan started to grow in his head. "Bub, wake up, let's play! We can go find new flowers!" He little tail beat excitedly against the dirt, eyes bright and excited as he waited for Skylar to wake up. Skylar loved playing, and flowers! Skylar would definitely play with him, he was sure of it. "I already found a pretty one the same color as your eyes ou'side!"

The pup was sleeping among his siblings, curled up and settled peacefully among the wriggling bodies. He twitched just like the rest of them, dreaming with the cosmos and with the next adventure he and Maia would likely have. A paw comically twitched as the three month old slept on, even as the sun peeked over the horizon and shone it's light into their den. His back was turned, so he merely felt the warmth on his back as he snoozed. It was only the poking of his sibling that stirred him from his sleep.

"Sky. Bub!" His dream bubble was popped as he was nuzzled, and with a hum of confusion he rolled onto his back, light blue eyes peering open as he looked up at who had awoken him. "Bub, wake up, let's play! We can go find new flowers!" Flowers? That woke him up a little more, just as he realized it was Centurion who had spoken. "G'mornin' Cenchury," he mumbled with a light tail wag as he drew a paw to his face  to rub at his eyes. Skylar's jaws parted in a wide yawn as he rolled back onto his belly so he could stand up properly.

"Flowers, you say?" he repeated, now looking at his brother with a smile on his face. The star child was always eager to play, and especially spend time with his siblings. "I'm down f'that!!" His tail wagged faster the more his mind encompassed what Centurion was proposing. Skylar grinned at him and wanted to be louder, but his siblings were sleeping. "I already found a pretty one the same color as your eyes ou'side!" What?! His eyes widened and he looked at his brother with growing excitement.

But before he said anything, he gestured with his head for Centurion to follow outside. Careful to avoid hitting any of his siblings or Momma, he stepped around them and trotted outside of the den and turned to his brother as they both exited. "Where is it? Where is it??" he whispered excitedly, eager to follow his brother's instructions.

"G'mornin' Cenchury,"

"G'mornin'!" He chirped back happily, cringing a little when their other siblings stirred around them, relieved when they didn't wake. His little feet stamped in excitement as he fidgeted in place, waiting for Skylar to wake up enough so that they could go play. Century was not a morning pup, but when he got excited about something, it didn't matter what time of day or night it was!

"Flowers, you say?"

Score!! He knew Skylar would want to look for new flowers with him! Skylar loved flowers! Skylar was probably the biggest reason that Century cared about the flowers, honestly. Most of his opinions of things were molded from what his siblings liked; he didn't have that many preferences himself. He liked what they liked so they would want to be around him. Plus, they liked cool things! It was a win for everyone.

"I'm down f'that!!"

He started to yip his excitement, but snapped his little maw shut at the last second, remembering the rest of the family was still sleeping. He did hop in place though, excited beyond excited to get to go on an adventure with his brother. Maybe next time they could get Genim to go with them? Or maybe they could get him to go THIS TIME? Century turned, eyes bright and excited, ready to wake up his other brother, but stopped when he found him sleeping very soundly. He deflated a little, but perked up just as quickly. Next time would have to work!

He bounced out of the den after Skylar, eager to get their adventure started. He stumbled and tripped over his own too-large paws in his effort to not step on mama, though, and went tumbling out of the den with a little oof, blinking rapidly up at the sky. He shook it off just as quickly though, rolling over and jumping to his feet. "Where is it? Where is it??"

"Over here!" He cried excitedly, bounding over to the left of their den where a little bunch of morning glories had just bloomed. "See! They're the same pretty color as your eyes!" He said, his tail wagging so furiously behind him that it was shaking his whole body. "Oh, oh, bub look!" Century pointed a black paw at one of the buds as it started to bloom, his eyes huge and round with wonder as he bounced on his remaining three paws. Look, look!! He was mystified with the way the flower unfurled and bloomed right in front of their eyes.

"That was so cool!!!" He marveled when it finished opening, turning to his brother with a huge grin. "Have you ever seen 'em do that 'fore? S'like they're alive!" He paused, a thought hitting him like a train. "They're not alive are they?!" He'd accidentally stepped on so many flowers before. Oh no. Century was a flower killer! Skylar could never know. He would hate him!! But maybe not, Skylar was really nice. He was a good brother! Maybe he wouldn't hate him, he'd just be mad for a little bit.

Century didn't like the thought of that either. Maybe he could just. Not tell him? Yeah! That was a good plan.
