Mutual Silence (PRP Nikolai)
« on: October 12, 2016, 03:27:38 PM »
The weather was getting colder and colder every day that passed, the trees having changed their leaves a few weeks ago. Clifton used the specially designed harness, that was tinkered and invented with by Remia whom had gone on the journey of the rites to learn from a master. With Alaina and Nexys cubs, it had been a week or two since they had left, and oddly enough it felt oddly empty without their resident grumpy cat knight. He also wondered if it would snow in the forest, when winter came, but they would find out when the time came.

For now he was searching for a place he could truly call home, since he hadn’t found one yet since his injuries had been keeping him down and in one. They were still slowly healing, but he was feeling much better than before thanks to being taken care of by the prides healer. That’s when he noticed a strangely patterned saber, that almost looked like it came from the sea. So deciding to get to know this creature, he padded forward less leaves crackling than usual as the land became more familiar the more quiet the kitties would become in this strange new territory.

“Hello fellow saber, my name is Clifton. May I ask what yours is?” He asked, as soon as he got close enough to sit in front of him. Hearing the trickle of a nearby stream, but kept his focus on the saber in front of him. Shifting a bit so the scrolls in their case, stayed in place.

It had been a couple of weeks and Mother hadn't found them yet. It was making Nikolai restless beyond belief. He was having a hard time sleeping, eating, laying down at all. It was truly exhausting. The young male wanted so badly for his life to return to normal. What if Mother hadn't found his note before the weather had washed it away? What if she thought he had taken the cubs to safety and abandoned her? She would be so cross with him when she found him!

Nikolai paced the forest floor nervously, half tail thrashing, torn ears twitching. Even his whiskers trembled. He was in such a state, he didn't even hear Clifton until he spoke. Nikolai jumped from fear, turning to Clifton with a defensive hiss, his fur standing on end to make him look bigger. The frightened yearling's eyes locked on Clifton and when he realized the male meant him no harm, he relaxed, panting hard. It took a moment for him to calm his nerves; in the mean time, he looked very apologetic, and shaky. The last thing he needed was to make the locals angry and find a reason to detain him. Then Mother would really be angry.

The other male introduced himself and Nikolai nodded understandingly, lavender eyes alert and attentive. But he had no way of telling Clifton what his name was. He made a snuffling noise with his nose and mouth, eyes expressive, showing his worry. Then he opened his mouth and no sound came forth. Maybe Clifton would understand? Nikolai was getting restless only being able to communicate with the cubs. It helped having them around because they could translate for him, but in this time of trouble he had abandoned his post and left them to roam the lands with the other cubs. Any weakness shown by him would resort in the cubs worrying. He needed to be alone for this kind of melt down.

Nikolai decided that the best option would be to teach some locals his hieroglyphs. He needed to be able to communicate and in only a few short months, the cubs would be too old for what Mother wanted anyway. They would have to start all over again and the cubs... well they would most likely stay in Stoneclaw if Mother wanted to leave. Being in a pride would make her deeds too easy to detect... unless she took a role culling the cubs...

The mint male shuddered and shuffled his paws, focusing on Clifton again. He walked to a tree and drew a symbol in the dirt below. A circle with a line coming from the bottom. Then he pointed to a tree, tapping on it's trunk with his soft paws. If Clifton got the point, Nikolai would smile and nod joyfully. It would be the first time he tried to teach an outsider his language. How exciting.

Clifton watched as the young male saber, turned towards him with an angry face. His fur puffing out to make himself look bigger, and just waited for him to calm down. Hoping he realized that by attacking the prides lorekeeper, he would be in deep trouble from Nexys as well as the rest of the pride. Clifton watched as the male's fear subsided, not even batting an eye and his fur not even puffing up. Just looked at the male with more of a bemused grin, as he watched this mint saber start to make weird noises with his nose and body. Opening his mouth to show him something. Clifton thought it over on what the male was trying to tell him. Having the knowledgeable brain that he has he came up with the answer pretty quickly or thought he did anyways.

“So you cannot speak as I or the rest of the pride do? Well that’s a problem, but not something we can’t figure a work around. Unless you already have an idea?”

He watched as the male spaced out, wondering what was going on through the males brain. As it went on for a few minuets, but if there was one thing clifton had it was patience. As he scratched his back against a rock while he waited for male, to come back to the present. When he finally did, he watched the mint green sabers body shudder. But not one to pry, watched as the male focused back on him. The mint green then proceeded to hurriedly proceed to a tree, and drew something in the dirt. Clifton being the curious saber that he was walked over to where the drawing was. It was a circle coming down from a line, and looked up as the mint saber seemed to be pressing the paw against the tree. He smiled understanding, as he drew the symbol with precise claw strokes for having written a lot.

As he looked up at the mint green saber, ”The symbol or whatever they are called, you just drew means tree.” He said, smiling this saber would make an excellent bard and even a lore keeper if he ever wanted the position but he wouldn’t bug him about it. As it was interesting learning this sabers language, and maybe he get a name through it eventually. But for now it was like being a student, being taught by the teacher and he grinned finding this situation interesting. Wanting to befriend this saber if her could.
