Saboro Acceptance Guide
« on: September 20, 2015, 01:39:53 AM »
» NORMAL ACCEPTANCE:
guide in its entirety written by theral.
A dangerous yet somewhat mundane review.

- - - - - - - - - -

Start a new thread and post your character at the borders.  The thread title should have [acceptance], or something like it, in it somewhere; the ring number can go without saying (it's the first ring), but if you put anything in the post that contradicts this (ex. your character waltzes into Saboro without stopping, or you name a landmark from ring 3), they'll be considered to have intruded past the first ring. If you don't mark the acceptance, you will be assumed to be a trespassing loner.

» GENERAL RULES:
Well, for prospective recruits.

- - - - - - - - - -

     1. Read the rules in the Borderline, especially the rules/geography info.  Especially regarding rings!

2. Only Sentries and and Royal/Elite ranks are expected to be walking around in Ring I, since the only use of that ring is to move in and out of the pack lands.  Other ranks meandering about may be frowned upon.  Slaves who enter the first ring without permission can be assumed to be attempting an escape (!) and dragged back in/beaten/punished appropriately.

3. Allies are not exempt from ring protocol and may be attacked/punished for intrusion, unless escorted by an official; Saboro is a highly-territorial pack. If they attempt to fight back, they will be treated as enemies.

4. Sentries should take a thread with an IC post.  Don't post an "I got this, guys" OOC note and never actually get it.  If your character is a recruit's dramatically long-lost brother and you specifically really really want to take it, and your friend posted their acceptance during your 5-minute break between classes...it happens, and spotsaving is fine.  But if you really need to claim a thread with an OOC post, just please do reply promptly.  If recruits are left with a sentry who isn't really posting, they're welcome to PM a Saborako (or an alpha), who'll have someone come in and give a final verdict.

When you're finished, post your profile link HERE before roleplaying.

» FAQ:
PM an alpha any tidbits you think should be added here.

» Can my character know about Saboro prior to acceptance?
Saboro isn't necessarily low-profile; yes, they can.  You may NOT assume your character knows anything about members of Saboro, their customs, their geography, or anything else that could only be discovered from living inside it, without gaining the knowledge ICly.  Basically, general things are okay, impossible specifics are not.

» How many times can I try to be accepted/my acceptance was denied/I had to cancel my acceptance, can I try again?
You can try as many times as you'd like, but a character that is constantly rejected may eventually begin to frustrate sentries... who have the capacity to use ill-fated recruits as target practice.  In addition, border staff have the right to refuse a second chance for a character's acceptance.

» Who has acceptance powers?
     Always:
1) Sentries, 2) the Saborakos, 3) the Sabora and Sabor.

Under "oh god, we can't even handle this number of acceptances" circumstances:
All of the above + general nobility (the other Elite ranks).

» What species are accepted?

  • Wolves.
  • Cats of any sort, though with some prejudice towards them.
  • Hellhounds.
  • No "useless" breeds or dog, ex. chihuahua ancestors.
  • Native rainforest animals can just sort of show up inside Saboro as natives.
  • Other animals probably won't be accepted as actual pack members, but can just sort of...amble around and not get eaten.  And maybe have a snug honorable-mention slot on the rank list.

Disabled or otherwise "weak" characters will be eligible -- with some prejudice -- unless they're hindered by their differences.  If a puppy keeps up through the examination as well as an adult...well, functionally, they might as well be treated the same way.  Non-wolves (or questionable wolves) will most likely be accepted as Grunts instead of subordinates.

» AUTO-ACCEPTANCE:
Like normal acceptance, but faster and more boring.

- - - - - - - - - -

PM the alpha(s) your character's profile (either copy and paste, or link!) and either a few roleplay links or a tryout post of them trying for acceptance.  Just like typing an acceptance thread, without the drawn-out actual thread bit.

Along with that, please say how you imagine the acceptance would've gone (i.e. what you decide will be "canon" for what happened).  You may not include specific on-forum characters without their players' permission, and your acceptance is less likely to be accepted if your scenario is unrealistic or probably wouldn't manage to happen in a played-out acceptance thread.

If we accept your character without the profile already being posted, please remember to post a link HERE when their profile goes up.

» ENSLAVEMENT:
Acceptance...by Saboro's Howls involuntarily dragging/enticing your character in past the border.

- - - - - - - - - -

Start a thread in Saboro with your character wandering nearby, put [enslavement] in the title.  A Howl will come in and try to get your character into the pack grounds by whatever means possible.

If someone fails to post within two weeks, the other person can choose to invoke the two-week rule:

If the slave fails to post: they're captured in an awesome smooth coup.
If the Howl fails to post: they did a crapty job, another Howl needed to help so they slave wouldn't escape, and overall looked ridiculous.

When you're in..congrats! You're a slave! Bottom of the totem pole.  Again, please make sure to post your profile link HERE before roleplaying.

» Can my slave rise in rank?
Definitely! It'll be harder than if they came in the normal way, and they have virtually no rights until they do, but Saboro's slaves aren't "eternal punching bags" (that's omega) as much as "dirt that needs to work its way up and will provide free entertainment until it does".  The only official protection a slave can have is ownership -- usually of an Elite rank, occasionally of a mid-level rank, and only as effective as the owner that enforces it.

» Can I be a one-legged wolf who can't do anything and still be taken in?
Why would Saboro enslave something like that? If you seem like you should be in the training grounds or your character would be particularly unsuitable to Saboro, you can be killed or simply ignored and abandoned by a potential slaver.

» So are slaves treated really violently?
Maybe not if they keep their heads down and know when to be humble.  Rebellious or aggressive ones had better be, though; we wouldn't want an uprising.  Pack members who see someone treating an uppity slave like an equal should take it upon themselves to punish the bleeding-heart do-gooder responsible for it.

» What's up with the personal slave thing?
I'm rewriting it after I finish this guide.  Wheee.

» Can I have more than one personal slave?
Totes.  It might be a hassle, though.

» A FINAL NOTE

- - - - - - - - - -

Saboro is a dangerous pack.  This is not Inaria.  It is no-consent and very strict on its closed borders.  If you try to get in, there is always a chance that your character may be killed.  If you get in and want to get out again, there are no guarantees that your character will be able to leave alive.

Please do not join if you are unable to play with this caveat or play respectfully in the sandbox when your character is in a high-risk situation.

If you have any questions on anything in this topic, please PM an alpha or a Saborako.
