"Boy." Carex didn't speak harshly; he was a prince, his tone was never harsh, but there was a threatening lilt to his tone. His stance was tall and powerful, ears tipped back and tail straight up in the most dominant way. He was young; healthy, well-fed, in the prime of his life. He was not standing aggressively; only readily, "You don't know what you're tampering with. Revolution. Don't you want to change the world?"

It didn't matter - he had already crossed the line into Carex's territory. His life if he joined Kakumei would have been that of a babbling jester for people to point and laugh at; a sad clown for the masses to pity, not revere.

It was midday - winter cold had settled over the marshlands. The area was clear, but around the edges of the wide clearing were the remnants of prickly rose bushes; flowerless, but still sharp. Just outside the border, behind where Oros stood, a stream flowed slowly over muddy ground. But the ground where they were standing was hard and solid, littered with rocks that poked out of the dirt. Not sharp, but steady. Tall trees framed the scene, one tree behind Carex sitting collapsed up against it's neighbor, making a sideways arch just behind the wall of thorns.

"You want this land?" He said, "Duel me for it; you're no prince, your petty revolution is not worth realizing. You'll learn. Fight me, or run like a coward."

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Boy? Oros' brow furled at the statement and wondered what this guy thought he was getting at. Oros was no boy, Oros had been through too much to ever even admit he had a childhood, he was certainly no boy. The way he spoke about this Revolution caught Oros' interest but it wasn't enough to change his mind, not after what he'd been through.

"Don't you want to change the world?"

Oros cast a sideways glance at Ereshkigal when Carex asked this question and he almost laughed. He turned his gaze back towards Carex and gave him that, what are you getting at, look. "I am going to change the world, it starts with one poppy."

He started forward only to be stopped by the words of the other. Oros frowned darkly, his ears turning back slightly upon his skull and his eyes narrowing. His tail swayed behind him, irritation obvious in his motions. "Not only is my goal worth realizing," he didn't call it a revolution because that sounded weird, "I will realize it upon the rubble of whatever kingdom you think you've made."

There were no cowards here; there was a obstacle and a goal. Oros saw his goal and the obstacle was finally in front of him.

He continued to stride forward, cutting the distance between them with each step, he was done talking. Oros tensed his muscles and launched forward, jaws parted to go right for Carex's muzzle where they would snap shut, be it on the others face or air because he avoided the first strike. Oros would land right away, eyes wide and locked on the would be king. Carex was in the way and he needed to move out of Oros' foreseen path or he'd be trampled under foot, Oros chased his goals without regard for those that got in his way.

I am not a duelist... fighting me is not like playing the dueling game.

Oros made some petty retort that Carex didn't hear. Boy. He didn't know the proper uses of flowers, nor their meanings, nor their truths.

He leapt. A flimsy first attack, leaving himself vulnerable in the air where his paws couldn't reach the ground to change his direction, which stuck him on a set path. Carex sidestepped, turning on him so that if the attack hit, his teeth would meet Oros's neck just as his front paws hit the ground. He would dig his back paws into the earth and throw his entire weight forward to try to shove Oros over onto the ground while his footing wasn't solid, at which point he could tear the skin and throat from the body and be done with it. No mercy, never mercy for usurpers, especially not the ones who felt themselves above the game.

If he got his hold but wasn't able to push him over, he would shake his head, making to pull as much skin and body free as he could before letting go.

Have you ever dueled before, child?

While Oros was rushing forward, his target moved and so too did his attempted bite. His head followed the flamboyantly colored wolf and Carex’s teeth would meet teeth in turn rather then his intended target. Oros’ front paws would touch down during their clash of teeth and he’d pivot so that his body turned more in Carex’s direction to meet his combatant so when his rear paws touched down he was prepared for the forward tackle.

The push did throw Oros off balance but only slightly and in response his forepaws lifted and he put all his greater weight into a downwards shove on the others form. Ideally Oros wanted to force Carex down to the floor but if his push didn’t floor the wolf it could either cause him to back peddle or jump away to avoid being taken down and his pretty coat muddied.

No matter where Carex went, Oros would follow through with snapping jaws aimed at the pretty face of his smug foe. He was aiming to keep Carex rushing back, avoiding the strikes and maybe fall off balance. If the trick failed and Carex came in, Oros would meet him with his jaws open and his teeth aiming to cut up his face.

[[ As it has been 4 days since Oros' last post, according to the new posting deadline agreed upon by both sides, the Marshland Team would like to congratulate Orléans the winner of this fight! Congratulations! Your two week grace period starts now, and Kakumei has two weeks to save their information before it is archived.

Any questions, comments or concerns may be brought up to any Marshland Organizer, thank you! ]]
